The Flu...Will it get you?

You cannot go anywhere without hearing about the H1N1 flu strain that is going around. Many public health departments are urging people to get vaccinated. But is it safe? That is an informed decision you have to make yourself. The decision should be based on facts not fear! I believe that if one keeps themselves healthy, the flu poses no problem. What about those who are most susceptible? Again, the key is keeping themselves healthy. If one keeps their immune system healthy, one can avoid the flu all together. So how does one do that? This is why I will be holding a Wellness Workshop on Maximizing Your Immune System. The workshop will be on Tuesday, October 13th at 7pm. To reserve your seat, please call our office at (919) 662-0520. Space is limited and will fill fast. You definitely want to attend this before getting a flu shot!

Food intolerance and sensitivities...Do you have it?

Now more than ever we are seeing food intolerance and sensitivity symptoms, yet no one is identifying them. This translates into more headaches/migraines, inflammatory bowel diseases, fatigue, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, skin problems, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and various other problems. This is started by an innate immune reaction that sets off a cascade of reactions which lead to an IgG response. Most allergic reactions are an IgE response that can potentially lead to death. However, IgG responses are delayed and one may not see any symptoms until hours later. Unfortunately, food sensitivities are not being detected by doctors. Severe reactions are being identified but sensitivities are slipping through the cracks. In the long run, these lead to more morbitity and mortality than do the acute reactions. Food sensitivities can lead to syndrome x or metabolic syndrome which leads to diabetes, increased inflammation, CNS disorders (Alzheimer's), rheumatoid arthritis and many in between. The good news is you can now find out what your sensitivities are. ALCAT performs food sensitivity tests against your blood to see what IgG response you have toward foods. They can run from 50 foods all the way 200 foods as well as chemicals, molds/mildews, food additives, and environmental chemicals. For more information log onto www.alcat.com We are pleased to announce that we do ALCAT testing in our office. If you would like to see if you are a candidate for testing, please set up a consultation to see how you can benefit!
